Competition Format

How the Pursell Farms YGT Format Worked

At Pursell Farms, YGT combined team strategy, forced substitutions and individual matchups. The official rules label scramble, alternate shot and five one-on-one matches as the Pursell format and describe the broader structure as expected rather than immutable. Later stops may introduce changes in response to viewer feedback.

1. Front-Nine Scramble
Each four-player team splits into two pairs. Both pair scores count toward one combined team score.
2. Mandatory Wildcard Swap
At the turn, each captain must bench one core player and insert that event’s previously secret wildcard.
3. Back-Nine Alternate Shot
The revised lineup plays in two alternate-shot pairs. Front- and back-nine totals determine the qualifier standings.
4. Two Teams Advance
The top two teams after 18 holes move into the event final. Third and fourth still receive purse money.
5. Five Individual Matches
The finalists use their four core players and wildcard in five 18-hole head-to-head stroke-play matches.

Season Finale

The Road to the Wynn Las Vegas Championship

The three regular-season events establish the team money list and introduce 12 wildcard appearances. Before the finale, those wildcards return for a one-day shootout. Its winner becomes the 17th player in the individual championship field.

What Happens After Season 1?

The announced long-term structure also calls for each team to relegate one permanent player after the inaugural season. That future roster mechanism does not change the current 2026 teams and should remain separate from the regular-season wildcard substitutions.
