Quick Answer

Why Did Grant Horvat Leave Good Good?

Grant left Good Good in December 2022, calling it the hardest decision of his life. He didn’t detail specifics at the time, which fueled speculation, but he later described it simply as a difference in creative direction — he wanted to build his own independent channel rather than continue in the collective’s format.

Background

His Role at Good Good

Good Good was built around making golf entertaining while still showcasing real skill, and Grant fit that naturally. His smooth swing and relaxed personality made competitive matches feel approachable rather than intimidating — a combination that made him one of the group’s most recognizable members during creator golf’s early growth.

The Departure

Grant left Good Good in December 2022, around the same time as fellow member Micah Morris. Neither released a joint goodbye video with the group — each addressed their exit separately, and both were notably light on specifics.

Grant’s own explanation video was literally titled “Two Sides to Every Story.” He called the decision “the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life,” while making clear there was no personal animosity: “I am forever grateful and thankful for the opportunity I was given to work for Good Good and for Garrett, and there will always be a special place in my heart for all the memories and things we were able to accomplish.”

The lack of detail left room for speculation — some fans and outlets floated theories about money or internal conflict at the time. None of that was ever officially confirmed, and it’s worth treating as speculation rather than fact.

The Fuller Story

What Grant Has Said Since

Two years later, Grant gave a more direct explanation of what actually happened. He described it as a difference in direction rather than any falling-out:

“The main thing was that I loved YouTube golf and love the art of YouTube… I felt that Good Good was going in one direction and I wanted to go in a different direction. They wanted to go in one direction and I wanted to go in another, and my direction was not going to look the same.”

In short: it wasn’t about a single dramatic incident. Grant wanted more control over his own content style and direction than staying inside a group format would allow.

The Reunion Match

Just over a year after leaving, Grant played a reunion match against Good Good’s Garrett Clark. The two were clearly on good terms, and fans responded well to seeing them compete again after time apart — a pretty clear sign the split wasn’t the bitter break some had speculated.

What It Led To

Building an Independent Channel

Leaving gave Grant control over his own filming schedule, guests, formats, sponsorships, and long-term business direction — control he didn’t have inside a group channel. That independence is what turned into Grant Horvat Golf, now one of the largest independent channels in creator golf, plus ownership stakes across several golf businesses.
