How Did Grant Horvat Win the Creator Classic?
Grant Horvat won the 2025 Creator Classic at TPC Sawgrass on March 12, 2025, sinking a 15-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat George Bryan IV and Chris “Soly” Solomon. It was the second event in the PGA Tour-backed Creator Classic series, played the day before The Players Championship on the Stadium Course’s iconic island-green 17th.
Ten Creators, Eight Holes, One Island Green
Ten golf content creators competed in an eight-hole stroke-play format, playing holes 10 through 17 on TPC Sawgrass’s Stadium Course. The top three finishers advanced to a sudden-death playoff, repeating the par-3 17th — the same hole that decides so many real Players Championships.
The field included real competitive credentials alongside creator names: Wesley Bryan, a PGA Tour winner, and Kyle Berkshire, a three-time World Long Drive champion, both played alongside Grant.
The Path to the Playoff
Grant birdied the par-3 13th and led for much of the afternoon, finishing regulation at 1-over alongside George Bryan IV. Chris Solomon of “No Laying Up” doubled his opening hole after hooking his tee shot, then closed with seven straight pars to sneak into the playoff at 2-over, edging out Roger Steele for the final spot.
The Playoff on 17
All three players returned to the island-green 17th for sudden death. George Bryan IV’s shot found the water, ending his chance. Solomon found the green but missed his birdie attempt.
That left it to Grant, who hit his approach with a pitching wedge and rolled in a left-to-right birdie putt from around 15 feet for the win.
In his own words
“At the beginning of the day, that was the most nervous I’ve ever been, and I think today I kind of proved something to myself, that I can handle the nerves. In the past, I’ve got so tight and kind of guided it, and today I was actually swinging pretty free. It was awesome.”
More Than an Exhibition
The Creator Classic is a real PGA Tour-organized series, sponsored by YouTube and broadcast on the Tour’s own channel — not a casual side event. Winning it, on a Tour venue, under a format with real sudden-death pressure, gave Grant a competitive result that stands apart from a filmed match with a friendly outcome.
It’s also part of a broader pattern: the Creator Classic ran three times in 2025 alone, a sign that creator golf is being taken seriously enough to get its own PGA Tour-backed competitive stage.
