Quick answer: Golf Channel initially postponed Big Break x Good Good for production changes after a sponsor requested removal of its branding. On August 27, the network canceled the entire unaired season after Good Good withdrew from the connected PGA Tour event and the winner’s intended exemption could no longer be fulfilled.
What Golf Channel Confirmed
Big Break x Good Good was originally scheduled to return August 25 with a Meet the Players special followed by Episode 1, “Howdy.” Golf Channel postponed both programs to September 1 after a sponsor requested removal of its branding.
That postponement became a cancellation on August 27. After Good Good stepped away as title sponsor of the connected PGA Tour event, Golf Channel said the intended outcome of the series could no longer be fulfilled and it would not be able to complete the season as planned.
The filmed season will not air under the announced schedule. Golf Channel has not announced an alternate streaming release, delayed broadcast or re-edited version, although it said the Big Break franchise is expected to return in 2027.
The Commercial That Preceded the Cancellation
The sequence of postponement and cancellation followed criticism of a Good Good and Callaway advertisement published August 21 for a co-branded Quantum driver. The acted sequence featured Good Good co-founder Garrett Clark and creator Alexis Miestowski. Clark knocked Miestowski down after she reached for the driver and warned her not to touch it.
Good Good removed the video and apologized August 22, saying the depicted actions did not align with the brand’s values. Copies and excerpts continued circulating after the original post was deleted.
What Good Good and Callaway Said
On August 25, Good Good CEO Matt Kendrick said the concept had been intended as a parody of the 2026 horror film Obsession. He accepted responsibility and said the execution missed its intended mark.
Callaway CEO Chip Brewer clarified that Good Good produced the commercial but Callaway approved it before publication. Callaway later ended its partnership with Good Good, strengthened its approval procedures and committed $1 million to organizations working to prevent violence against women and support survivors.
That clarification established that the advertisement was not an unaffiliated Good Good post using a Callaway product without the manufacturer’s review. Both companies participated in bringing the campaign to publication, although Good Good produced the video.
Was the Sponsor Golf Galaxy?
Golf Channel did not identify the sponsor that requested removal of its branding. However, the series had been officially promoted as “presented by Golf Galaxy,” and the Associated Press reported that multiple reports identified Golf Galaxy as the sponsor involved.
By August 27, Golf Channel reported that Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy had begun removing Good Good-branded merchandise from their websites and store shelves.
The careful answer is: reporting points to Golf Galaxy, but Golf Channel’s own postponement announcement did not name the sponsor.
Is Big Break x Good Good Canceled?
Yes. Golf Channel canceled the entire unaired season on August 27, 2026. The September 1 Meet the Players special and Episode 1 will not air under the previously announced schedule.
Good Good also withdrew as title sponsor of the November PGA Tour event. The tournament remains scheduled for November 12–15 in Austin under the temporary name Austin Championship, but the Big Break winner’s intended exemption can no longer be fulfilled as planned.
Could the Filmed Season Still Be Released?
Golf Channel has announced no alternate release. The network could change course later, but there is currently no scheduled broadcast, streaming release or re-edited version. Its announced 2027 return refers to the Big Break franchise, not this canceled season.
