LeBron James Golf: Handicap, YouTube Channel, Clubs and Videos
LeBron James has turned a relatively new golf obsession into an official YouTube series, a worldwide course-and-travel project and a PGA Tour-supported event in his hometown of Akron.
Quick answer: LeBron James did not have an established golf handicap when GQ interviewed him on 09-04-2025. He estimated that he might be around a 20 to 25, although his chief of staff Randy Mims thought he played closer to a 14 or 15. LeBron rejected the lower estimate and said his scores were still in the 20s.
The distinction matters: LeBron’s estimate was not an official USGA Handicap Index. He was still recording the rounds needed to understand where his game stood.

What is LeBron James’ golf handicap?
LeBron has not publicly confirmed an official Handicap Index. In a September 2025 interview with GQ, he explained that he had only recently begun recording his scores and still needed more completed 18-hole rounds. Asked to estimate his level, he answered that he was probably around a 20 or 25.
Randy Mims, LeBron’s longtime friend and chief of staff, suggested 14 or 15 during the same exchange. LeBron immediately pushed back and said his game was still in the 20s. The responsible answer is therefore not “LeBron is a 20-handicap.” It is that LeBron personally estimated a 20-to-25 range before establishing an official index.
Why golf hooked him: LeBron described the game as uncomfortable, challenging and impossible to master. He emphasized traveling, playing great courses and enjoying the competition with friends rather than taking every shot too seriously.
LeBron’s official YouTube golf channel
YouTube formally announced LeBron’s new channel on 08-17-2026. The company described it as a continuing golf journey built around iconic courses, international travel, local food, close friends and special guests—not a single celebrity exhibition.
The announced plan calls for monthly Saturday episode drops. That gives the project a different shape from a traditional instructional channel: viewers are following a famous beginner learning the game while bringing established relationships and elite access into golf entertainment.
August 2026: The channel launched with a Scotland reunion featuring members of the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers championship team.
September 2026: The catalog expanded with competitive and hometown-centered golf involving Channing Frye and LeBron’s Akron friends.
July 2027: LeBron’s golf involvement is scheduled to extend into a two-day foundation event at Firestone Country Club.
LeBron’s Bob Does Sports Collaborations
Before launching his official golf channel, LeBron joined Bob Does Sports—Bobby Fairways, Fat Perez and Joey Cold Cuts—for a match at El Caballero Country Club. Released on 04-02-2026, the collaboration passed 3.8 million views and demonstrated the enormous audience waiting for more LeBron golf content.
LeBron Returns With Bronny and Austin Reaves
LeBron reunited with Bobby Fairways, Fat Perez and Joey Cold Cuts for a new match featuring Bronny James and Austin Reaves. Released on 09-24-2026, the joint upload crossed 1.3 million views during its first two days.
The 2016 Cavaliers reunion in Scotland
LeBron reunited with Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson and Channing Frye for the channel’s debut trip. The episode combines golf, championship memories and the chemistry of the team that delivered Cleveland’s 2016 NBA title.
LeBron versus Channing Frye
The former teammates shift into a more direct competitive format, showing LeBron’s developing swing, course management and comfort competing with friends.
LeBron Visits Titleist Performance Institute
LeBron visits Titleist Performance Institute to evaluate his movement and golf swing and identify what he can practice next. The episode is useful as a first-person look at his development, but it does not establish a complete equipment setup or prove that any swing change became permanent.
Specific measurements, drills and lasting results should be treated as episode-specific unless LeBron documents them again.
LeBron James is bringing a golf event to Firestone
The LeBron James Family Foundation and PGA Tour announced the inaugural LeBron James Family Foundation Invitational for 07-06-2027 through 07-07-2027 on Firestone Country Club’s South Course in Akron.
This should not be confused with a conventional PGA Tour stroke-play tournament or a confirmed LeBron playing appearance. The initiative is designed around access and mentorship: students from LeBron’s I PROMISE program will connect with golfers advancing through the PGA Tour’s Pathway to Progression Pro-Bound Five initiative and into opportunities on the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour.
The project connects three parts of LeBron’s story—his hometown, his growing interest in golf and his foundation’s work with Akron-area students and families.
What golf clubs does LeBron James use?
LeBron has displayed golf equipment throughout his public videos, but a complete, authoritative current bag—including every club model, loft and shaft—has not been documented well enough to publish as a verified WITB.
My9Iron equipment policy: We will update this section when specific clubs and specifications can be confirmed through clear primary evidence. Casual screen sightings will not be presented as a complete current setup.
Golfers comparing their own equipment can start with My9Iron’s driver fitting guide and golf-ball fitting guide. For a fully documented professional setup, see Bryson DeChambeau’s clubs and specifications.
From basketball icon to golf student
LeBron’s basketball résumé explains the scale of the channel, but it is not the page’s central purpose. The four-time NBA champion and four-time league MVP entered professional basketball directly from St. Vincent–St. Mary High School in Akron and became the NBA’s career scoring leader.
Golf presents the opposite public identity: instead of an all-time expert, viewers see a highly competitive athlete learning an unfamiliar game in real time. That beginner-to-improver storyline is what makes the series accessible even when the courses and guests are extraordinary.
That same crossover appeal has also made professional golfers and sports personalities natural collaborators. My9Iron’s Bryson DeChambeau biography covers another athlete whose YouTube work has expanded golf beyond a traditional tournament audience.
