Angel Yin’s Early Golf Career
Yin grew up in the Los Angeles area and developed quickly into one of the country’s most accomplished young golfers. She won the California Women’s Amateur at 12, qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open at 13 and made a professional-major cut at 14.
She attended Arcadia High School and turned professional in 2016. Instead of following the traditional college-golf route, Yin began building experience on the Ladies European Tour while still in her teens.
That decision placed her against established professionals immediately. Her length off the tee attracted attention, but her early résumé also showed touch and resilience under pressure—qualities that soon earned her opportunities in both individual and team golf.
Angel Yin’s Professional Victories
Yin’s first professional victory came at the 2017 Omega Dubai Ladies Classic. She defeated reigning Women’s Open champion I.K. Kim on the second playoff hole, capturing the Ladies European Tour’s season-ending event before her twentieth birthday.
Her first LPGA Tour victory required a longer wait. At the 2023 Buick LPGA Shanghai, Yin finished 14 under and defeated Lilia Vu with a birdie on the first playoff hole. The result reversed their finish from that season’s Chevron Championship, where Vu had beaten Yin in another playoff.
Yin added her second LPGA title at the 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand. She completed four rounds in 260 strokes, 28 under par, and defeated Akie Iwai by one stroke. The total established a tournament scoring record.

Angel Yin in Major Championships
Yin has not won a major championship through 09-11-2026, but she has produced two runner-up finishes. At the 2019 U.S. Women’s Open, she closed with a 68 and climbed into a tie for second behind Jeongeun Lee6.
Her closest opportunity came at the 2023 Chevron Championship. Yin and Vu finished regulation tied at 10 under before Vu won with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Six months later, Yin defeated Vu in a playoff in Shanghai to claim her first LPGA title.
The major results matter because they show that Yin’s career cannot be summarized only by her three professional victories. She has repeatedly contended against elite fields at the events that define careers.
Angel Yin’s Solheim Cup Career
Yin made her Solheim Cup debut in 2017 as an 18-year-old captain’s pick. The United States won at Des Moines Golf and Country Club, and Yin returned to the team in 2019 and 2023.
She did not play in the 2024 edition. Yin returned to the American roster in 2026 after earning one of Team USA’s nine automatic qualifying positions, giving her a fourth appearance. That selection linked her naturally with American teammates including Nelly Korda and Rose Zhang.
A stomach illness interrupted Yin’s summer schedule in 2026. She returned to LPGA competition in late August and said on 09-09-2026 that she felt ready to represent the United States, with captain Angela Stanford supporting her availability.
