California Golf Roots and College Career

Schauffele grew up in San Diego and won the 2011 California state individual high-school championship while attending Scripps Ranch High School. He began his college career at Long Beach State before transferring to San Diego State.

He turned professional in 2015 and worked through developmental-tour competition before reaching the PGA Tour.

Rookie Breakthrough and 10 PGA Tour Victories

Schauffele broke through in 2017 by winning the Greenbrier Classic and Tour Championship. He became the first PGA Tour rookie to win the Tour Championship and received Rookie of the Year honors.

His 10 official PGA Tour victories are the 2017 Greenbrier Classic, 2017 Tour Championship, 2018 WGC-HSBC Champions, 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions, 2022 Zurich Classic with Patrick Cantlay, 2022 Travelers Championship, 2022 Genesis Scottish Open, 2024 PGA Championship, 2024 Open Championship and 2025 Baycurrent Classic.

Two Major Championships in 2024

Schauffele won his first major at the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla. His 21-under total of 263 established a major-championship scoring record at the time, and he defeated Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke.

Two months later, he closed with a 65 at Royal Troon to win The Open Championship by two strokes over Billy Horschel and Justin Rose. He became the first player since Brooks Koepka in 2018 to win two men’s majors in one season.

Olympic Gold in Tokyo

Schauffele represented the United States at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, contested in 2021, and won the men’s individual gold medal. He finished at 18 under par and held off Slovakia’s Rory Sabbatini by one stroke.

Injury, Japan and His 10th Victory

A rib injury interrupted Schauffele’s 2025 season, but he returned to win the Baycurrent Classic in Yokohama. His final-round 64 produced a one-stroke victory over Max Greyserman and his 10th official PGA Tour title.

Xander Schauffele’s Presidents Cup Record

That gives him a career record of 10-4-0 entering Medinah. U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker selected Schauffele as a captain’s pick for 2026, making this his fourth Presidents Cup appearance.
