Nick Taylor Quick Facts
From Elite Amateur to PGA Tour Winner
Nick Taylor was born in Winnipeg and raised in Abbotsford, British Columbia. He emerged as one of Canada’s leading amateurs, winning the 2007 Canadian Amateur before playing college golf at the University of Washington.
Taylor reached the top of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, received the 2009 Mark H. McCormack Medal and won the 2010 Ben Hogan Award. He turned professional in 2010 and earned his first PGA Tour victory at the 2014 Sanderson Farms Championship.
The 72-Foot Eagle That Won the Canadian Open
Taylor’s defining victory came at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. He defeated Tommy Fleetwood by holing a 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole, becoming the first Canadian man to win the national open since Pat Fletcher in 1954.
The victory ended a 69-year wait for a Canadian men’s champion and turned Taylor into one of the most recognizable figures in Canadian golf.
A pressure finish
Taylor’s Canadian Open breakthrough began a three-win stretch in which every victory came through a PGA Tour playoff.
