Chris Gotterup Quick Facts
Rutgers Foundation and an Award-Winning Oklahoma Season
Gotterup was born in Easton, Maryland, and raised in Little Silver, New Jersey. He stayed close to home for four seasons at Rutgers, where he became one of the program’s most accomplished players.
He transferred to Oklahoma for his final college season in 2021–22. Gotterup won the Fred Haskins Award and Jack Nicklaus Award as the country’s leading men’s college golfer, earned consensus first-team All-America recognition and finished seventh in the PGA Tour University ranking.
Five PGA Tour Victories
Gotterup turned professional in 2022 and earned his first PGA Tour title at the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic. His breakthrough accelerated when he defeated Rory McIlroy and Marco Penge by two strokes at the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open.
A Three-Win 2026 Season
Gotterup won three times in 2026: the Sony Open, WM Phoenix Open and John Deere Classic. At TPC Deere Run, his closing 9-under 62 completed a five-shot comeback and delivered his fifth career PGA Tour title.
He advanced to the Tour Championship for the second consecutive season and tied for fourth. His three victories made him one of only four players with at least three PGA Tour wins during the season.
Chris Gotterup’s Presidents Cup Debut
Gotterup finished seventh in U.S. qualifying, narrowly missing the six automatic positions. Captain Brandt Snedeker then selected him as one of six captain’s picks for Medinah.
The 2026 competition is Gotterup’s first Presidents Cup appearance. He is one of three rookies on the U.S. roster alongside Jacob Bridgeman and Jackson Koivun.
