Career path

From the Korn Ferry Tour to a PGA Tour mainstay

Sungjae Im built his PGA Tour career through volume, consistency and an unusually repeatable game. In 2018, he won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour—at The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic and the WinCo Foods Portland Open—and became the circuit’s Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

He carried that form into the 2018–19 PGA Tour season and earned PGA Tour Rookie of the Year honors. His best FedExCup finish is second in 2022, and his strongest major result remains a tie for second at the 2020 Masters.

Sungjae Im’s 2026 season

Im missed the opening two months of 2026 with a wrist injury and returned in March. At the International Team selection cutoff following the BMW Championship, he had recorded five top-10 finishes in 20 starts: T4 at the Valspar Championship, T5 at the Truist Championship, T9 at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, T5 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T10 at the BMW Championship.

He finished 37th in the 2026 FedExCup standings, just outside the Tour Championship field. International Team captain Geoff Ogilvy then selected him as one of six captain’s picks.
