Adam Scott Quick Facts
From Australian Junior Golf to a Global Career
Scott was born in Adelaide and developed into one of Australia’s leading junior golfers. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas before turning professional in 2000.
His smooth swing translated quickly to professional golf. Scott won internationally early in his career and grew into a consistent PGA Tour contender, eventually collecting 14 PGA Tour titles and more than 30 professional victories worldwide.
The First Australian Masters Champion
Scott’s defining victory came at Augusta National in 2013. After birdieing the 72nd hole, he defeated Ángel Cabrera in a playoff with another birdie on the second extra hole.
The victory made Scott the first Australian man to win the Masters. It also completed a breakthrough after several major near-misses, including runner-up finishes at the 2011 Masters and 2012 Open Championship.
World No. 1 and Long-Term PGA Tour Success
Scott reached No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking in May 2014 and held the position for 11 weeks. His PGA Tour victories span from the early 2000s through the 2020 Genesis Invitational.
His longevity remains a central part of his career. During 2026, Scott revived his season with a solo-fourth finish at the Genesis Invitational and played his way into an automatic qualifying position for the International Presidents Cup team.
Adam Scott’s Presidents Cup Record
Scott has represented the International Team at every Presidents Cup since his debut in 2003. Medinah marks his 12th consecutive appearance, extending the International Team record.
He enters the 2026 matches with an 18-27-6 career record. Beyond the numbers, captain Geoff Ogilvy gains a player with more Presidents Cup experience than anyone else on either 2026 roster.
2026 Presidents Cup Through Day 2
Scott and Christiaan Bezuidenhout defeated Cameron Young and Justin Thomas 3 and 2 in Friday foursomes. Scott stood 1–1 through Day 2 of his record 12th Presidents Cup appearance. See the live Presidents Cup hub for current pairings and results.
