The YouTube Crossover

From Tour Pro to Golf Creator

Phil Mickelson’s move into golf YouTube started as a handful of guest appearances in 2024. His first match against Grant Horvat aired that July — Horvat came back from a five-stroke deficit to win on the back nine at Mickelson’s home club, with Mickelson agreeing to wear joggers at that year’s Open Championship as the loser’s punishment. A rematch followed that November.

By early 2025, Mickelson had committed to a channel of his own, built around HyFlyers GC — his LIV Golf team. He described three anchors for the channel: continuing the 2v2 series with Horvat, featuring his HyFlyers teammates, and a recurring “Coffee with Phil” segment where he and other players trade stories from their careers.

He’s also crossed over into other creators’ channels — a head-to-head with Wesley Bryan on the Bryan Bros channel, and an appearance on Bryson DeChambeau’s “Break 50” series, both drawing hundreds of thousands to millions of views.

Career Background

Who Is Phil Mickelson?

Phil Mickelson is a six-time major champion and one of the most recognizable players of his generation, known for an aggressive, high-risk playing style that made him a fan favorite for two decades on the PGA Tour. He joined LIV Golf in 2022, a move that drew significant controversy at the time.

The YouTube channel has given him a lower-pressure way to reconnect with golf fans directly — described by outlets covering the launch as a chance to rebuild goodwill outside the structure of tour golf.
